JOHN NUTTGENS has worked professionally as a Potter since 1971 producing wood fired stoneware and domestic wares. From 1996 he has concentrated on smoke-fired ceramics using Terra Sigillata. He has adopted a radically new approach to wheel throwing as a design tool including the exploration of hollow-walled forms, upside down throwing and hanging and folding of freshly thrown shapes. He pursues a high quality of finish with an individualistic approach to current design.
