Robyn Hardyman
Robyn is inspired firstly by her material, porcelain. Its unique combination of delicacy and strength inspires her to throw fine, pared-back vessels on the wheel, in pursuit of balance and harmony. These in turn take their inspiration from the timeless elegance of classic forms from China and Japan. Surface decoration is minimal - an incised line or a band of slip – to allow the shapes to speak for themselves. Her glaze palette combines warmth and subtlety, creating a variety of surfaces to complement the restrained forms.
Robyn lives and works in Oxford and has been making ceramics for about 15 years. She is a Selected Member of the Craft Potters Association and of Contemporary Applied Arts.
